Hey, everyone!

After many requests from my friends, readers, and followers, I'm finally on YouTube!! Yaaayyy!

Uh huh.. I've recently started my very own WMM (Where's My Mirror?) YouTube channel!! I'm so excited!! :D

Make-Up Tip: How to Make Eyeliner Stay on Longer

Hey everyone!

Ever experienced times when you apply eyeliner, then it starts to fade after a while? This could happen after an hour or even after a couple of hours. This is especially evident when you use pencil eyeliners.

I've experienced it before and it was a pain in the bum when I was at interviews, important meetings, presentations, or functions. I'm talking about times when first impressions and appearance really mattered, and I was more occupied thinking about how my eyeliner was holding up. Is it fading? Do I need to touch up?? Geez, I've made trips to the washroom just to check on my make up. Man, that was a drag and tiring! If you've gone through this before, you'd know exactly what I mean. ;)

Gone are those times for me, though.

With this post, I'll share a very handy tip on how you can make your eyeliner stay on longer. This is something that I personally do because it works and doesn't take up much time.

Are you ready? Alright, let's do this! :D

All you'll need are:

• eye primer/concealer
• pencil eyeliner
• flat-tip brush or angled brush
• eyeshadow in the same colour as your eyeliner
• cotton bud (optional)

What you'll need to do:

Step 1: Apply eye primer or concealer on your eyelids as well as the under eye area.
           When I don't have an eye primer, I use a concealer instead. I find that either one
           works as a base for eye make up. 
           It's important to have a base - more so if you tend to have oily eye lids - so that
           your eye make up stays on longer.

Step 2: Apply your pencil eyeliner like you normally would.

Step 3: Allow the eyeliner to set for 10 - 15 seconds.

Step 4: Take the flat-tip brush or angled brush and gently dip it into the eyeshadow.

Step 5: Use the brush and gently "push" the eyeshadow into the eyeliner.
           Don't worry if there's any fallout from the eyeshadow while you're doing this.
           If there is, use a cotton bud to gently sweep away the fallout.

I follow this method of applying eyeliner on countless occasions. I swear by it because I don't have to touch up once I've applied my make up - my eyeliner stays on literally the entire time. When I say literally, I mean it - I don't need to touch up for a good 9 - 12 hours! My focus has been on having an awesome time, which I do!

The same could work for you too - when you follow this tip and apply it well, your eyeliner stays put for many hours. Just remember not to accidentally rub your eyes and smudge the eyeliner in the process, though. ;)

You could use this method even if you're using a liquid eyeliner. Instead of applying several coats for the eyeliner to appear darker, follow these steps and you'd achieve a similar effect.

When it comes to make up, this is my advice on the 3 important things you need to remember:

1. Have a base, so that your make up stays put longer. 

    The longer your make up stays on, the less you need to touch up.

2. It's all about the application. 

    When you apply make up well, the make up looks good - and YOU look good.

3. When you're using at least 2 or 3 eyeshadows on your eyelids, blend them well.

    When you blend eyeshadows well, you won't have harsh lines with clear evidence

    of where one colour stops and where the other begins. 

    Remember, everyone: blend, blend, blend!

Make-Up Tip: How to Make Lipstick Stay on Longer

Hey everyone!

Tired of wearing lipstick and having to keep reapplying because it fades soon after, especially when you drink and eat?

What I've found is that this doesn't happen as soon when I use a lip liner first. I've tried and tested it countless times - it really works! 

Don't expect it to stay on for hours and hours on end unless you drink and eat carefully. By carefully, I mean take dainty sips and bites, and not gobble food like you've not eaten in days. :p

Here's What You Do

Step 1: Apply a lip balm on your lips. 
           You want to do this because it serves 2 purposes: (i) it moisturises your lips, and
           (ii) it'll be easier to apply the lip liner.

Step 2: Line your lips with a lip liner. 
           If you're using a light lipstick, use a nude lip liner; if you're using a dark lipstick,
           use a darker lip liner. You could also use a nude lip liner with a dark lipstick,
           but make sure you BLEND them well.

Step 3: Fill in your lips with the same lip liner. 
           Lipstick will stay on longer on your lips when you do this. Trust me!

Step 4: Slick your favourite lipstick on top. 
           Generally, matte lipsticks stay on longer compared to cream ones.           
           Also, you could apply a lip gloss instead. but it won't stay on too long even with
           this tip because of the consistency of the liquid.

I'm guilty of sometimes not applying a lip liner first. Then, when I need to reapply lipstick, I think, "Dang, I should've applied lip liner first!" Shoulda, coulda, woulda. :p

Product Review: Miyami Two-Way Foundation

Hey everyone!

We're all looking for a compact powder or foundation powder that matches our skin tone, looks natural and not cakey, doesn't clog pores, stays on for hours, and is affordable. These days this is asking for a tad much. Almost impossible even, right?

Wrong!

Allow me to introduce you to Miyami Two-Way Foundation, which can be purchased from Cosway. 

A friend of mine told me about this product, and he swore by it. For privacy reasons, let's call him Adam Lambert (not his real name, of course). See, Adam's a make-up artist (and a freakin' good one too!) and I trust his opinions about these things, so I took his word for it.

Before I show you the photos, let me share with you my reaction when I found it. It's a little lengthy, but it's worth the read. Quite funny even. ;)

So I'm at one of the outlets and I took a look at the product only ONCE. I immediately called Adam on the mobile phone.

Me: "Hallo! What the HECK is this product lah?? It looks like a RM 5 powder that I can find in a bargain store or 'pasar malam', wei!!" ('pasar malam' means night market)

Adam (laughing hysterically): "I know! (laughing again) The packaging looks bad, but the product's REALLY GOOD. Get it!"

Me (hesitating because the packaging looks... ugly): "Errmmm... For real? You sure THIS is the one??"

Adam (laughing uncontrollably now): "YES! You'll love it, woman! JUST GET IT!"

Me: "Okay, okay! Don't get your knickers in a twist. I'll get it now. Thanks. Bye!"

And now, this is what the product looks like:

Anyhow, I bought one. I went back home. I tried it. Oh my.

Adam was right. It was great and I loved it! 

Claims?

• Silky-smooth combination of foundation and powder
• Gives a long-lasting, flawless finish
• SPF15 protects against harmful sunrays

Price?

Each costs about RM 30.00 (it's cheaper when it's on promotional sale)

Pros

• Suitable for sensitive skin I have sensitive skin and I've not had any negative reactions.
• Contains SPF
• Sponge is soft and comfortable
• Looks natural and not cakey Don't go mental and apply layers and layers of it, of course!
• Doesn't clog pores
• Can be used as a compact powder when the sponge is dry
• Can be used as a foundation when the sponge is damp
• Provides light to medium coverage
• Does indeed give a long-lasting, flawless finish
• Pretty good with oil and shine control
• Inexpensive

Cons

• Can be purchased only at Cosway outlets (this means that you need to have a Cosway membership or know someone who has it)
• Packaging looks very cheap
• Comes in only 3 shades: Light (Code: 5206), Medium (Code: 5207), and Dark (Code: 5208) I use Medium.

Your first impression of it may be like mine was, but don't let the bad packaging stop you from getting it. It's a really good powder. I've recommended it to some of my friends and they're very happy with it!

It was great a couple of years ago when I first tried. And it's still great now. I'd rate it 4 out of 5 stars. It loses 1 star because of 3 reasons: (i) the packaging (ii) you can get it only from Cosway (iii) it comes in limited shades.

If you're a Cosway member, you should get one and give it a go! If you're not a member and you know someone who is, perhaps you could ask them to buy it for you first, then pay them back. Or give them the money to buy it for you. 

My advice to you is this: if you are happy with your current powder, then stick with it. However, if you're looking to explore other options, try Miyami!

Product Review: Maybelline Color Tattoo By Eyestudio

Hey everyone!

Dang, it's already Sunday! :( Hope your weekend's treating you well, though! :)

Last week, I went to Watson's in Pavillion to look for a mascara and concealer. While in Watson's, I saw the famous Maybelline Color Tattoo By Eyestudio range. The range consists of cream gel eyeshadows in several beautiful, vibrant, intense colours.

Needless to say, I walked out of the store with my mascara, concealer, and a Maybelline Color Tattoo eyeshadow in 40 Tenacious Teal.

I've used it once so far for an evening event and my description of it in 3 words? I Love It!

I personally rate this product with 5 stars.

Almost all the colours are shimmery and shiny, and they have these in 8 colours in Malaysia:

Maybelline's Claims?

• Lasts 24 hours
• The ink technology creates super-saturated colour
• Cream gel smoothes on for vibrant colour that does not fade

Verdict?

The claims are all TRUE. Except for their mascaras, I've not been an avid fan of Maybelline products. Although, I have to say that these eyeshadows are a real steal for the price!

This eyeshadow is easy to apply and blends well. And the colour I bought... omigosh... it's beautiful, vibrant, stays on for many hours! I had it on ALL night and didn't need to touch up even once!

I applied the eyeshadow using my ring finger - I prefer using my finger than a brush with this eyeshadow. The more you apply, the brighter, more intense and vibrant the colour is. Love these about the product too!

It can be removed quite easily using a facial cleanser. If you usually use a make-up remover, then go ahead and use that first. Then, cleanse your face with a gentle facial cleanser.

Balm Stain for Kissable Lips

Hey everyone!

Do you like wearing lip balms?

Do you like a little colour on your lips without wearing a lipstick? 

If you're a smoker, have you been looking for a lip balm that gives just enough colour to hide your darkened lips?

If your answer is yes to at least 2 of the questions above, then you must try this: 
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain.

I've not been a particularly big fan of Revlon products. It's not that I don't find their products good; it's just that I haven't really fancied any of their stuff.

One evening last week, though, I saw someone applying what looked like a crayon or mini marker pen on her lips and I caught a glimpse of the Revlon brand. I thought, "Hmm.. interesting..". I was curious, so I went to a Watson's store to see if I could find it. I didn't go right after I witnessed this, by the way. I went a couple of days after.

The crayon/mini marker pen thingy? I found it at Watson's and it's a balm stain.

Lip balm. Balm stain. Same difference to me.

Revlon has this product in several delicious colours and I tested them all. Yep. I tried them ALL. I decided on 001 Honey Douce because I liked the delicate pink colour. I bought it on sale for RM 26.80.

I've worn this everyday for a week now and I like it! It's not as moisturising as a lip balm and not as drying as a lip stain. What it does, though, is keep your lips somewhat moist and the colour stays on for a good few hours without having to reapply - even after drinking from a glass/cup.

It also works pretty well as a lip liner. What I've been doing is lining my outer lips like I would with a lip liner, then I fill in my lips. After about 15 seconds or so, I apply my creamy pink Sephora lipstick. They match beautifully! Also, guess what? The lipstick doesn't feather! The lipstick wears off after drinking, but the balm stain stays on.

When you hold it upright, it's probably about 3 inches tall. Size matters, some say. ;)

I wouldn't recommend this if you have dry lips because it's a matte balm stain. What you could try to do is use a moisturising lip balm/Vaseline under the balm stain. If you do this, the balm stain won't stay on long, though.

Overall, I'd recommend this for those who like this type of lip product. I admit it's more expensive than some lip balms, but it's definitely cheaper than most lipsticks.

Make-Up Treats For Less Than RM 50

I've run out of lip liner, so I decided to get a new one over the weekend. I've used Elianto lip liner before and it was quite good albeit a little dry. This time I figured I'd try a different type and went to a Watson's store and got me a retractable Silkygirl one.

Then.. And then...

I went to Elianto in Paradigm Mall and got me another lip liner. And two eyeshadows. And a loose powder. Shush, don't judge me.

By the way, Elianto's having a sale until 1st September (I found out only when i went there) so if you like their products or want to try them, go to one of their outlets before the sale ends! Discounts are up to 80% for all ranges while stocks last!

These are the two lip liners that I bought. I like both colours, although Silkygirl's less dry compared to Elianto. I usually use a moisturising lip balm before applying my lip liner anyhow, so I'm fine with both.

Eyeshadows

They have many pretty and vibrant colours, but I like these two and they're great for evenings because the colours are a little shiny. My favourite of the two is definitely Sunlight Copper - it's bronze-ish, looks natural and matches my skin tone well (my tone's medium). 

Sunlight Copper looks a wee bit damaged here in the photo because I was testing it and accidentally dug my nail into it. I'm really smooth like that. Really. I am.

Mineral Loose Powder

I've been wanting to try a mineral loose powder for a while now and since I was in Paradigm Mall, I went to Sephora to check out their Bare Minerals one. The beauty advisor I spoke with told me that it costs about RM 99.00. 

Say what? RM 99.00 for a mineral loose powder? I'm on a tight budget! Seriously??

I have to say that I'm quite happy with my newly-purchased Elianto powder. When used with the right powder puff/brush, it's almost as good as the Bare Minerals one. It's definitely value for money, so it's good enough for me!

What's A Tinted Moisturiser, BB Cream and CC Cream?

Oh dear. As the years go by, there are more and MORE products in the market claiming to work all sorts of miracles. While it may be great for the companies selling these products, it's a nightmare for us beauty junkies because we just don't know what's what and which ones really work! I'm sure you agree that it can be very overwhelming.

See I'm almost running out of my daytime moisturiser and have been hearing and reading LOTS about tinted moisturisers, BB creams and CC creams. What?? What on earth are BB creams and CC creams?!? They're all over the place! Gone were the days when moisturisers were simply that: moisturisers.

Fret not, Lil' Missy comes to the rescue as I've done my fair share of research on this. To help clarify, these are the fundamental differences:

Tinted Moisturiser

• Moisturiser with colour that helps even out your skin tone.
• Provides sheer coverage.
• Hydrates like a moisturiser.
• Typically lightweight on the skin compared to a foundation.
• Includes an SPF of at least 15.

BB Cream

• Also called as Blemish Balm, Benefit Balm, or anything you want the "BB" to stand for.
• Amped up tinted moisturisers.
• All-in-one product that replaces your serum, moisturiser, primer, foundation, and sunscreen.
• You can expect the look/feel of a tinted moisturiser with antioxidants, acne fighting ingredients and some whitening ingredients.
• Includes a hefty broad spectrum of SPF.

CC Cream

• Also called Colour Correcting, Colour Control, or anything you want the "CC" to stand for.
• Newest addition to these range of moisturising products.
• All-in-one product that replaces your serum, moisturiser, primer, lightweight foundation, and sunscreen.
• Works like a BB cream, but with a lighter texture and lighter coverage.

I currently use Herbalife Nourifusion Multivitamin Moisturiser with SPF 15. I have combination skin, so I use the one for normal to oily skin. I've been using it for about 4 months now and it's hydrating. Overall, it's alright. I'll write another post about this product soon. 

Since "alright" is hardly ever good enough for us, I thought of trying out "better" products. Sigh, the curse of satisfying our beauty needs.

Anyhow, I went to Sephora at Paradigm Mall over the weekend and gave the sales assistant very specific instructions. The conversation went something like this:

Me: "Hi! I need a moisturiser that hydrates, minimises pores, is lightweight, and gives a dewy look without looking oily. It must contain SPF. Oh, and I'm willing to try a CC cream. Could you help me?"

Sales Assistant: (looking at me like I'm a nut) "Err.. Sure. Okay.. we have Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation, which is a tinted moisturiser, and Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Dark Spot Correcting, which is a CC cream."

Me: "I've not used either before, but I'll give it a shot. Could you please try each product on each half of my face (half of my face with one product; the other half with the other product). I have sensitive skin and need to try them on for several hours to see if there's a reaction."

Sales Assistant: (now looking at me with a nervous smile like I'm some kind of psycho) "Okay, miss. Have a seat and I'll bring the products to you."

Me: (grinning like a Cheshire cat) "Great! Let's do this!" 

Poor girl. She seemed confused yet intrigued. She was pleasant, though. I'm glad that Sephora caters to needs like mine (kudos, Sephora!).

After a couple of minutes, she comes over with some products and cleans my face with a Sephora make-up remover, then uses a Sephora toner. Then, she begins applying the products she mentioned.

The comparison table below describes how I find the look and feel of the products:

Thing is that companies are running a business, so they're not to blame that we are overwhelmed with countless products on the shelves. As harsh as it sounds, the beauty business isn't charity, and these companies need to market and sell their products.

Here's my take on it: do your research, check the ingredients list, and ignore the claims on the packaging. It's important to try different products on before deciding which ones work best for your skin, and makes you look and feel pretty. I know it's simpler said, but different products work differently for people because of the different skin tones, skin textures, skin conditions etc. 

It's also best to see how the products look on your skin under white light or even better, in broad daylight. Most cosmetic/beauty shops have yellow lights and it can be very deceiving how you look under yellow light.

Make informed decisions and stay moisturised, folks! :)
